Rosie'sYear 5 blog

This week in school we have been looking at some aboriginal art and painting our own picture about a story that we made up. I drew a picture of aborigines sitting round a camp fire.  We also designed one in are learning log at the weekend.

As well as art we do lots of fun P.E with Mr. Eadie.  We have been playing netball and football.  My favourite is netball because I am good at it. We do it on Thursdays and Mondays every week.

In English we have been reading, performing and writing poetry which is super fun. The best part of it was when we had a slam poetry competition, when we all wrote our own poems based on anything we liked. We all voted for the poem and performance we enjoyed most – Madeline was the winner.

In maths we have been doing work on place value and column addition and subtraction using very big numbers!  In my opinion this is not the best subject because I find it hard.

My favourite day is Friday because for lunch we have a choice of pizza, burger, fish fingers and sausages.  We also have a yummy roast dinner on Wednesday which is 100% delicious!

This week we have been doing PE with Mr Eadie, it was great!  We did dodge ball and kickball.  What will we do next!  In maths we’ve been learning new ways to multiply and we’ve done ‘Times Table Torture’.  One person in our class can do all their tables in 3 minutes and 11 secs which is amazing!
We did science this week with Dr Bedi, (one of the dad’s in our class) he works at a space and satellite place.  We learnt so much.  Thanks again Mr Bedi.  We also did topic work, our topic is Australia so we built an aboriginal shelter with sticks and leaves.  In RE we started learning about a Jewish festival Sukkot.
